The boy before the three teens was quite large and bulky. His face was half covered by metal, as was most of his body, and one eye was replaced by a red cybornic eye. The part of his face that was still his own showed a mix of emotions. Everything from shock to anger to a hint of happiness. There also seemed to be some sadness showing through as well.
After a short stand off between the four, Zapps' expression changed from shocked to ecstatic as she flew up to the large half man, half machine and gave him a huge hug. She tried to hold back the tears that wanted to escape from her eyes. So many emotions came over her at once and it seemed to make her forget about her mission.
The boy first just stood there, frozen by the girl's embraces, but after a few seconds he returned the hug.
When the others saw their teammate hugging the cyborg, they couldn't help but be puzzled by the situation before them. Robin and Kid Flash let down their guard as they watched the two. The rest of them at this point had come out from hiding as well.
"I can't believe you're here," Zapps broke the silence and the embrace. "Wait, why are you here?!"
"I could ask you the same thing. Why aren't you in New York? And why are you wearing that?" The teen asked as he pointed to the girls outfit, confused and a bit upset.
"Well it's kind of a long story and what's wrong with me wearing this? Didn't you get me this for my birthday and tell me that I should wear it when I finally became a superhero?" Zapps huffed.
Who is this guy?" Kid Flash finally asked what everyone was thinking.
"Oh, right! This is my big brother, Victor." Zapps said happily.
"Your brother? But-"
"I was adopted! That answer your question Supey?" Zapps cut Superboy off, knowing what he was about to ask.
As his little sister was talking, Victor looked around and noticed some familiar faces from TV and some that weren't. He could tell who they where with by their costumes though.
"No way, she actually did it," he said to himself, a bit surprised.
"Wait, Zapps? Please tell me that's not what you're going by?"
"What's wrong with it? Hey, you still haven't answered my question. Why are you here?" Zapps said, looking at the boy with a determined expression.
"I think I might be here for the same reason you guys are," Victor laughed. "I've heard rumors of this school and I came here to get some information on it."
"Guess we are here for the same thing, Victor," Kid laughed.
"Actually, you can call me Cyborg."
"And you're making fun of my name?" Zapps muttered, crossing her arms and rolling her eyes.
"Well since we're after the same thing, how about we work together? I'd like to keep an eye on my little sister anyways," Cyborg said as he rubbed Zapps' head.
"Hey, I can take care of myself!" Zapps pouted.
"I am sorry but I do not think that would be wise." Aqualad said.
"What and why's that?"
"Come on, let Vic-I mean Cyborg come along. We do kind of have the same mission so why not let him come?"
"But Zapps, you have said before that he can be overprotective of you. What if that gets in the way of the mission."
"Cy will be good, right Vic?" Zapps said, looking at her brother with a smile.
"Well actually-" "Don't worry! I've gotten stronger and if it helps any, I'll be with Rob. He'll make sure I'm safe."
Cyborg looked over to the boy wonder and then back at Zapps. "Man this is going to be hard to get used to. I still remember when you where little and had posters of him, going on about how cu-"
Zapps covered her brother's mouth as her face turned bright red. "Please shut up!"
"Cyborg, as long as you promise to allow your sister to do her mission and not interfere with it, I see no reason why you should not join us." Aqualad sighed, giving into the two.
"Yes!" Both Cyborg and Zapps said at the same time.
"Miss Martian could you link him up with the rest of us and I will explain the plan." Aqualad turned to Miss M and she nodded, linking Cyborg with the rest of the team.
Once everyone was debriefed on the plan, they all headed out. Robin, Zapps and Artemis went in search for the main computers while the rest stayed back as back up. Kid Flash and Aqualad teamed up while Cyborg, Miss Martian and Superboy where teamed up.
'Ugh, I still don't get why we had to bring you along with us?' Artemis said as the three crawled through the air shafts.
'Cause I'm totally awesome duh!' Zapps came back, turning her head so she was looking behind her to Artemis and giving her a smirk.
'We're almost there,' Robin said, breaking up the fight that was clearly about to start between the two.
He looked through the vent to see the coast was clear. He pulled the vent cover off and jumped down, Zapps and Artemis right behind him. He headed for the computer and started to hack into it. About that time, alarms started to go off. Zapps and Artemis got ready for a fight but Robin had other plans for Zapps. He took his glove off with his computer built into it and told her to deal with the computer while he helped Artemis keep the guards out of the room.
Zapps nodded and traded places with him. She put his glove on and keep hacking the computer as he and Artemis were right outside the room fighting off the guards.
"See, that's why she's with us," Robin said to Artemis with a laugh.
Zapps kept typing away, trying to get all the files she could from the computer. At the same time, she was looking back every once and a while, worried about her teammates. She wasn't sure if the guards were getting to many for even the two of them.
'Aqua, I think you guys should get over here now! We've been caught,' Zapps called to her leader.
'Maddie, are you alright?!' Cyborg asked with a worried tone in his voice, hearing the call for help as well.
'We're on our way,' Aqualad said in a calm voice.
Zapps smiled, a little relieved that the others were now coming to help and went back to her work.
As she was close to finish downloading the files to Robin's computer, a dark shadow seem to come over her. She looked up to see an old man standing there and he didn't seem to pleased by the little girl before him.
Zapps jumped back, forming a fist with her right hand and a ball of electricity surrounded it.
"Cute but it won't do you any good," the man said.
"We'll see about that!" Zapps said, throwing the ball at him.
To Zapps' surprise, he dodged the attack easily.
"You see," the man smirked, "Now how about you hand over those files you stole from me."
"And why would I do that?" Zapps snapped, hugging her arm with the glove on it to her body.
"Children these days have no respect for their elders!"
Zapps' eyes grew wide when she saw his eyes begin to glow red but quickly snapped out of it and got ready for a fight.
"Ha, I'm not going to waste my time fighting you. You're simply going to hand that glove of your's over to me."
"What? Why would I do th-" Zapps was interrupted by a sharp pain in her head.
She realized he was trying to take over her mind and did everything she could to fight him off.
Of course this battle for her mind didn't go unnoticed. Miss Martian felt it as well and alerted Robin and Artemis to the situation just foots from them. She also did what she could to protect her friend and teammate but sadly the man was stronger and ended up blocking the martian's powers.
When he finally was able to take over the girl, he told her once again to hand over the files and this time she did as she was told.
About the time he got his hands on the glove, Robin and Artemis came through the door.
"Zapps, what are you doing?!" Artemis cried out in a peeved and confused tone.
Robin on the other hand, just glared at the man. Knowing he was controlling his friend's actions.
"Well, well it seems you were just a few seconds to slow," the man taunted, "Go! Take them down."
Zapps turned around, her eyes glowing red as well, and charged her two teammates.
