YJ: And So Zapps Is Born

In her room, a girl sat in front of her computer as she typed away on her keyboard. "Come on, come on. You're so not going to win this," she giggled to herself. She kept going as files started to pop up on the screen. She read through them but one in particular caught her eye. She stop typing and her smile started to grow bigger and bigger. "N-no way. No way, is this for real?!" She jumped up from her set. "I can't believe this. I have so got to get in on this," she said as she started to run toward her closest.

She dug in the back, looking for something. "I know I put it back here somewhere." She said as she threw things out of the way. She finally found what she was looking for and pulled it out. "There you are!"

She turned around, holding some clothes and a pair of boots. "I guess it's off to the hall of justice," she said, walking over to her desk. "I told you big brother that one day I finally would get my chance." She smiled at a picture of a teenage boy picking her up, both with a big smile on their face.

Before she walked over to her window, she grabbed her wallet and put it in her pocket. "Ugh, wish I could fly father. I wouldn't even need this. Probably could get there faster too," she pouted, now lending out the window. She jumped out and floated down to the ground, heading off for the nearest train station.

Hall of Justice
August 11, 15:10 EDT

After waiting a few hours, she saw one of the Justice League members walking toward the hall of justice. She flew over and landed right behind Batman. She looked up at the man in awe. She had seen him on TV many times but this is the first time she was able to meet him face to face. "B-Batman," she finally spoke up. The dark knight turned around and looked down to see a small girl standing there. She had black bangs that fell around her face while the back was light brown and pulled back into pigtails with pink ribbon. Pink and black goggles rested on top of her head and she wore a green tank top like shirt that seemed a little big on her. There was a lightning bolt like cut out that started midway down the shirt and stopped with the shirt right above her belly button. A light green border followed the design but then kept going a little father then the cut out. A silver belt hugged her hips. The buckle on it was round with a lightning bolt in the middle and a pink circle behind it. The belt was holding up a light green and white skirt like fabric with an opening in the front. She wore thigh high purple boots topped with white borders that pointed down and had lightning bolts falling down toward her knees. Under all of it was a black body suit that had slits on the shoulders and the sleeves turned into fingerless gloves.

"Ok I know this isn't going to sound good that I know this but can I please join Robin and the others in their new team?" she said with a grin.

Batman lowered his eyes, "How do you know about that?"

"I…um..well…I kind of hacked your systems and found out about it," she laughed. "But that isn't all I can do, don't worry! I have powers. Wanna see?"

"This isn't some kind of joke!" Batman yelled.

"I know! And I know it seems bad that I hacked your systems but I promise I was only doing it for the challenge. I didn't know I'd find out about something so cool as a teenage superhero team," she giggled.

Batman let out a growl before composing himself. "Here is what you're going to do. You're going to head back to wherever you came from and you're going to forget all about what you found. Got it?"

"But I really want to join the team! Please Batman, why won't you just give me a chance?" The girl looked up at Batman and gave him the puppy dog look.

"No! And you better not try anything like this again, got it?" he coldly replied before walking off and into the building.

Zapps stood there, pouting as she watched him leave. "Fine! If you don't think I got what it takes to be on the team then I'll just have to show you. Then you'll be begging me to join," she said, sticking her tongue out. "And I know just where to go to prove myself to you." She giggled and flew off.

Gotham City
August 11, 18:36 EDT

Perched up on a rooftop, the little girl could see cop cars racing down the street. "This is my chance." She giggled, following after the cars.

She stopped and stayed in the air when she got to the place all the cars were heading to. "This is it? Well at least it's not some lame jewelry haste." She shrugged as she started to lower herself to the ground.

"Hey guys! What's going on?" she asked the officers as though she's known them her whole life.

Two turned around and looked at the girl, a bit confused. "This is no place for a little kid so please leave now. It is much too dangerous for you," one of the officers explained to her in a considered tone.

The girl let out a huff before lifting herself off the ground and to their eye level. "That's what you think but I'll show you and Batman what I can do! You guys just stay out here and I'll handle whatever is going on in there," she said before heading into the warehouse.

"Huh? Wait, you can't go in there!" Another officer called to her when he saw her flying pass him.

"Who was that? I've never seen her before."  One officer asked another.

In the building, it seemed pretty quiet, a little too quiet for the cop to be surrounding the place like they were. The girl searched around to see what was going on but didn't see or hear anything. Getting annoyed, she started to call out for whoever was in there, "Come out, come out wherever you are. I can't prove myself to Batman if you hide!"

She let out a sigh and pulled her goggles over her eyes. When no one came out, she started to charge up. "Fine be that way, you jerk! I'll find you."

Just then she heard someone let out a roar. She looked behind her to see Clayface standing there. "Hey I've seen you on TV before! What was your name again?" she said, trying to remember his name. "Was it Mudman?" she asked him, only to have him charge at her.

She jumped up and got some air to keep away from him. "Ok, ok! It's not Mudman. Gezz, you don't have to attack me just cause I forgot your name."

The girl formed two balls of electricity around her fist and headed right Clayface. She went in for an attack only to be thrown into some crates. "Man they make this look easy on TV." She huffed before flying back at him. This time he turned his hand into a mallet and smashed her into the ground. She let out a cry but she wasn't going to give up. She was determined to prove that she was good enough to be on the team.

She tried to lift herself up only to realize he was to strong. He lifted his hand back up and went in for another attack. The girl took the chance to fly off. She was inches from being crushed again, which made her sigh in relief. Her short moment of relief was interrupted when Clayface hit her once again.

She was heading for a wall in the warehouse when she felt herself being stopped by something. She looked up and saw the monster had a hold of her and that he was slowly morphing his hands together, trapping her. The blob that was once his hands started to cover her face and she was having a hard time breathing.

"N-No this can't happen!" she thought as she was now immerged. She was just on the verge of passing out when she could feel his grip let loose. As he did, she felt herself falling but then someone grabbed her and landed a little away from the monster. "Hey, you ok?" she heard a voice call to her. She tried to answer but she couldn't seem to get anything to come out. She then could feel herself blacking out.

Mount Justice
August 11, 21:15 EDT

After feeling like she had sleep for 3 days, the little girl started to wake up. She looked around but had no idea where she was. "Crap, not only did I get my butt kicked but now I don't even know where I am. Vic would be so mad at me right now," she said. "Wait am I in a hospital? But why are the walls made of rock?" She questioned, flying over to look at the walls. She turned around and saw the door.

"Guess I mind as well see where I am." She shrugged as she headed out the door. "I just hope I didn't get kidnapped by some baddie."

After walking around and not finding anyone, she finally heard voices.

"So who is the girl?" a boy asked.

"Yeah and what is she doing here?" a girl added, sounding a bit annoyed.

"Somehow she was able to hack the Justice League's computers and founded out about your team." The girl could hear Batman's voice.

She walked down the hall the voices where coming from. She tried to say hidden as she listened to them talk.

"She wants to join but she's an unknown with no experience at all. She also has proven that she is reckless by trying to take on Clayface by herself." Batman finished.

"I just wanted to show you that I was good enough to be on the team!" the girl blurted out, making everyone look over to her.

She flew over to Batman and looked him in his eyes. "So I'm not as good as you guys but I can learn. Please just give me a chance."

"She sounds like she really wants to join. Can't blame her though, we are the best." Kid Flash joked.

"So what if she wants to join. We can't just let anyone join. Especially some wannabe brat like her." A blond girl said.

The little girl turned around and looked at her." And who are you? I've never seen you before!" She then looked back to Batman. "I've never seen her or those two ether. So you don't seem to have a problem with unknowns." She cried, pointing to Superboy and Miss Marian. "And like I said I can learn if you would just give me the chance."

"Batman, maybe we should give her a chance. If she is welling to learn then why not let her join." Aqualad spoke up.

"Really?" the girl looked over at Aqualad with a shocked but happy expression. "This is so cool! Aqualad is speaking in my defense. And don't worry, I won't let you down." She giggled as she went to hug Aqualad.

Batman sighed, "If you do join, you're going to need extra training. You're inexperience could be a danger to the team."

"So that means? Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you Batman." She said, throwing her arms in the air.

"Hey! So do you have a name?" Kid Flash zipped over to her side.

"Of course! You can call me Zapps." She said with a smile.

"Zapps? So you're an electrokinetic, right?" Miss Marian asked.

"Yup! And I also can manipulate magnet fields around me to pick things up and fly around," she answered proudly.

"Well I guess you already know us three but this is the beautiful Miss Marian. Oh and that's Superboy and Artemus there." Kid Flash said.

"You can call me Megan." Miss Marian smiled.

"Hi there Meg!" Zapps said before looking over to Superboy. "Superboy? So does that mean he's-?"

"No!" Superboy answered and walked off.

"What did I say? Does he not get along with Superman?"

"Not really…" Miss M replied with a sadden expression.

"Oh, how about I show you around? I've got cookies in the kitchen if you'd like one." Miss Marian broke the moment of silence.

"Ok! So is this our secret base?" Zapps asked Miss M.

"Yes and me and Superboy also live here." She told the little girl as they started to walk off.

"Wait so you guys live here?" Zapps stopped in her tracks and looked back to Batman. She flew over to him and floated close to him so the others didn't hear her.

"Batman can I stay here too? I-" "You don't need to explain. I'll get a room set up for you right away." Batman cut her off.

Zapps smile and flew back over to Miss M. "Ok I'm ready now for the tour."

"What did you ask him?" Miss Marian questioned her.

"If I could stay here too. Hehe, he said I could." Zapps replied.

"That's great!"

"Oh yea,  who was it that saved me?"

"That was Robin. He said that he helped you while Batman stopped Clayface."

"Robin…saved me?" Zapps blushed, glancing back at the boy wonder.

"You know he's skilled with computers too," Miss M told her, which seemed out of the blue to Zapps.

"Huh? Really?" Zapps said before it hit her. "Wait, how do you know I'm good with computers?! Oh I know you read my mind, right?"

"No, of course not! That would be an invasion of your privacy. Batman told us about you while you were resting." Miss Marian smiled.

"I don't care; I think it's cool that you can read minds." Zapps giggles. "But isn't Batman telling you about me while I'm sleeping kind of like an invasion of my privacy? Not that I have anything to hind."

After getting some cookies, the two started the tour around the base. Talking and bonding while they were doing so.

After the tour was over, Zapps ended up on her own and found herself back in the main room, playing on the computer. "Wow, this computer is way better than the one I have! Way cooler to use too. I'm so going to love living here. This is like the best day of my life, hehe."

"Haha, why am I not surprised I'd find you here?" a voice spoke behind her, scaring her a little.

"I couldn't resist! Am I not supposed to use this? Then again I guess I wouldn't want me near a system  like this after hacking it just this morning. " Zapps laughed and turned around to see Robin standing there.

"I got to admit, it's pretty impressive that you could hack into their systems from a home computer." Robin smirked.

"Yea, well it wasn't just any computer, I rebuilt it just so I could get into systems like these." Zapps boasted. "Oh crap, that really sounds bad doesn't it?!" She freaked out when she thought about what she said.

She stopped then looked at him again. "I forgot! I was going to thank you for saving me. Guess it wasn't the best idea go fight Clayface on my own but I really wanted to show Batman what I could do." She sighed and looked away. "Probably a good thing Aqualad spoke up for me cause I probably wouldn't be here now, huh?"

"Haha, if he hadn't I was going to." Robin said with a grin.

Zapps' head shot up in shock. "You would? But why, I got my butt kicked by a walking blob of mud!"

"KF messes up all the time and he's still here, so why couldn't you join the team?" Robin played it cool.

A smile grew on Zapps face and without warning she hugged Robin. "Seriously, you're even cooler in person!"
